my much anticipated 2-week vacation has come and gone – and it’s back to work (insert the saddest emoticon that has ever existed)! but at least i have pictures (hundreds of them) that i can look through & relive the adventure that was Thailand. watch out, readers – i’m taking over this week’s posts and giving you a look inside my vacation to Thailand & South Korea!

First up: Bangkok, Thailand

Let me just preface by saying that it was HOT. not the i-wish-i-had-an-iced-beverage hot. more like the my-whole-body-is-on-fire hot. and no thanks to the dress code at the temples, i had to cover up my knees & shoulders at all times. awesome.

Day 1: food market, floating market, & tiger temple

Day 2: Wat Po & Grand Palace

i brought my umbrella for the forecasted rain – but ended up using it to shield myself from the killer sun. yes, that happened. and yes, i am ashamed :( 3B6A16723B6A16693B6A1703L1050627L10506283B6A1684

i love thai food, but eating hot curry in 95+ degree weather was just not as satisfying as i had hoped…L1050604

Happy Bike to Work Day!

It’s that time of year again!  No, not the Nordstroms Anniversary Sale (that’s not until July).  It’s BIKE WEEK y’all!    IMG_6577

Which means I get to take one of these sexy-putting-on-my-helmet-hair photos…NAILED IT.IMG_6580

But in all seriousness, safety first guys.  Even if it makes me look like Toad from Super Mario.  IMG_6588IMG_6600IMG_6642IMG_6618IMG_6698

christine wears:
chevron pants | f21 (polka dot and tribal versions)
sleeveless silk shirt | barneys new york (splurge or budget)
chain necklace | meg
shoulder bag | vintage dooney & bourke
peeptoe wedges | michael kors (similar here and here)
bicycle | trek

That’s right folks, it’s time to ditch your 4WD  for your 10 speed (with or without training wheels – no judgment here) and hit the streets!  In honor of Bike Week 2013, I will ride my bike to work!  Except I work in Los Angeles…and I live in Orange County…um no.  I think there’s a special exception for people who have to cross county lines to go to work.  But for the rest of y’all, no ifs, ands, or buts.  Since I am excused from biking to work, in the spirit of Bike Week, in true borderline fab fashion, I will bike around my cul de sac to the end of the street and back.  In heels.  But for those real bikers, there are a lot of events going on if you ride your bike to eat, play, or shop this weekend.  Apparently this is a pretty big deal in Los Angeles – even an official ‘blessing of the bicycles‘ occurred where your bike can get sprinkled with holy water to encourage safe riding.  I think I will just stick to my helmet and sidewalks for my safety assurances.  And avoid car doors.  Happy riding everyone!

hat with bow | uo – similar here and here
wayfarer sunglasses | foreign exchange

I have never been interested in any type of meet-up group, but when it involves 140+ corgis running loose on the beach, it’s sort of a no brainer! Max & Mila (my 2 furry babies) had a blast & it was so stinking cute to see so many corgis in one place.  I have to admit, we did lose Mila and misidentified her a couple times, but THEY ALL LOOKED THE SAME I TELL YA! Thank you, buzzfeed for the hilarious recap of the event.  can’t wait for the next meet-up in a couple months.  Corgi Nation!

North Carolina – All Work; No Play (or was it the other way around?)

Last week, I was flown out by my company to Charlotte, North Carolina. See my previous post for a glimpse via ig! I arrived late on Sunday which left me no choice but to order room service. Champagne – Check. After my Monday morning meeting, I had to review my notes before I allowed myself to have any fun. As you can see, it went pretty well…Charlotte2Charlotte3Charlotte5Charlotte7 Charlotte6

black bow flats | me too (similar here & here)

Well the motto: work hard (nap a little); play hard seemed to fit in this situation, so shortly after waking up from my nap being hard at work, I was off to see Charlottte in all it’s glory.Charlotte12Charlotte11Charlotte10
First Stop – Soul Food at Merts. There’s really nothing like southern hospitality, and I love that everyone calls me sweetie pie. I’d probably slap that Santa Monica creep calling me darlin’, but in the South, it’s all gravy honey buns. As for the food – I don’t want to spill any trade secrets, but I’m pretty sure the main ingredient in everything is BUTTER. To hell with my diet. I’ll walk it off on the Liberty Walk. (Or at least I’ll take a picture of me attempting to do the liberty walk)Charlotte9Charlotte8
After my attempt to the liberty walk (that is – walking around one block and getting lost), I headed to the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. What you don’t see in this picture is that I took off my ankle brace and attempted a Selfie Jumping photo. It hurt like hell, and I landed on my face. This pose was to remind myself of what a dumb-ass I was just being. Don’t try that home kids.
CharlotteBechtlerMuseumPortraitThe Bechtler Museum of Modern Art featured a Warhol’s family portrait of the Bechtler family. I’m in the process of commissioning a series for myself. Any takers?
Charlotte15
As you can see, the museum was completely empty. In fact, it was so empty, they should have paid me to enter. But it’s all good because my imagination made up all these stories about ghosts and monsters lurking around in the exhibit following me. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. Overall, a good trip (though nothing like Gina’s Thailand trip – so stay tuned next week!)

…48 hours later, back in California.
