i learned early on that washing my dogs in the bathtub was NOT the best idea. wet walls, flying dog hair, and 2 dogs trying desperately to escape – it’s not a pleasant experience. thankfully, sunny california weather makes it possible to take the chaos outdoors. sorry, kiddos – i love you, but i just can’t deal with your stink.
You may find this incredibly hard to believe, but on this blog we don’t live the fabulous life of photoshoots, jet-setting and fashion weeks back-to-back. (Yes, I’m looking at you Sincerely Jules). Ultimate Sigh.
With that, I feel that my 9-to-5 job literally drains the happiness from my life. Especially when the 9-to-5, on occasion (read: always), turns into an 8-to-7, or worse, to an 7-to-10. It’s hard to pinpoint, but there is something about staring at a computer screen for 8 hours and your motion sensor turning off your office light because you haven’t moved in 8 hours that is. just. so. incredibly. depressing. Other than the fact that I need a paycheck (for shopping), the only reason I even make it back into work the next day is because I try to release some of those frustrations. I typically find solace in three things: (a) shopping [duh] (b) yoga and (c) wine. But, once in a while, when those three don’t work – the playground works out jussttttt fine. Oh, to be a kid again…

my car’s 5th birthday must have come and gone, because i received a nice little note from the DMV reminding me that my smog check was due. all my fellow californians know exactly what i’m talking about. there’s nothing like spending a beautiful saturday afternoon at an auto shop and spending $40 on something that i can’t even wear or eat. BOO.

$40 and 2 hours later….i passed! although a pain in the bum, it seems pretty necessary. out of the top 10 smoggiest cities in the US, 7 of them are in California (thanks CBS news). the land of sunshine, disneyland, and smog. no wonder i can’t run more than a few blocks outside! errr…sure…yeah…i’m blaming it on the smog 😛
I’m much more of a Target person than Walmart. I guess when you are a multinational corporation intent on world domination, you can’t help but feel a little bit wary. However, when I found out a Walmart opened in my neighborhood, I was curious and decided to pay the supergiant a visit and stock up on some BBQ supplies while I’m at it (i.e. beer). Now we all know interesting people shop at Walmart, but do we know Walmart has more full-time employees than the population of Iceland? Or that Walmart parking lots alone take up roughly the size of Tampa, Florida? (see more Walmart facts that will blow your mind here) To say that Walmart is big, is an understatement. I mean did you see my picture of the liquor aisle??? It is quite an overwhelming experience. At least I found some delicious Blue Moon Agave Nectar Ale. But to be honest, I’m probably going to stick with Target for most of my random shopping needs because let’s face it, Target clothes are far more superior. Walmart, once you do a fashion collaboration with Marc Jacobs, then maybe I’ll reconsider.
