Our Style Guide is back, and we’re just in time for MOTHER’S DAY!
Didn’t realize Mother’s Day was approaching? Lucky for your we’ve scheduled this post so that you still have ONE WEEK (that’s right slackers) to: order your flowers, buy your presents, make dinner reservations, and find something suitable to wear.
And no, ripped jeans and a tank are not going to cut it this year.

white shoulder cutout shirt | zara, but similar here and here
necklace | nordstrom, similar here and here
tips | when meeting up mom for a nice conservative lunch, the rule of thumb is to make sure that the longest point of your skirt is past your finger tips. thanks to this zara asymmetrical number, i just inched by 😉
red / orange ribbed dress | madewell (sleeveless, one shoulder, floral version)
jewelled flats | vince camuto (similar, splurge, and save)
apple mint plant | trader joe’s
tips: If you are wearing an ankle brace and/or on crutches, try to take the focus off of those by wearing a bright colour. BAM! (No? still seeing the brace?) If that doesn’t work, then bring flowers. (How about now?) And if your mom is anything like mine (Asian) and insists on ‘no presents’ or ‘no flowers because they die‘ – then try an herb. She can’t possibly say no to that, right?
yellow midi skirt | f21
striped silk tank | madewell (similar here)
necklace | wet seal (found here and similar here)
tips | want to know my little secret? It’s called midi skirt. These calf grazers are perfect for almost any occasion – work or casual brunch or meeting your conservative future mother-in-law. Wear one in a fun bright color to avoid looking too much like a 1970s soccer mom. Or what the heck, look like a 1970s soccer mom, your conservative future mother-in-law would definitely approve.
